Neues aus Büttenwarder
News from Büttenwarder – Author Norbert Eberlein tells us:

Where exactly is Büttenwarder located? On the one hand, it is almost buried in a picturesque and absolutely boring part of North Germany. Woods and meadows, pastures and fields separate the idyllic town from its more well-known neighbor villages Klingsiehl and Klockenstedt, which no one has ever heard of either. People make their living from farming, and that means from the neverending work of farmers like Kurt Brakelmann and „Adsche“ Tönnsen, people vote for their Mayor (a certain Waldemar Schönbiehl), drink beer and schnapps at Shorty’s local bar „Dorfkrug“. You may possibly meet the intellectual outsider Kuno. In Büttenwarder things that you can touch and see still count. You won’t find fashion like in other parts of civilization. A mall? A power plant? At least a mobile phone? No. Far away from even highway feeder roads, Büttenwarder doesn’t even have a by-passing street. That is Büttenwarder. One the one hand, it’s a town that isn’t easy to find. On the other hand, Büttenwarder is located somewhere else. Again and again someone in the pretty town has the idea of quick money. The people here just seem tired and boring, stuck in their routines, resigned to their destinies. All they need is an idea that promises money. Then they develop unknown energy, are ready to give up their friends, enter coalitions with changing partners, to lie and cheat. Intrigue triumphs, morals are changed according to economical necessities, all because the people in Büttenwarder have their dreams. But when their dreams of wealth and everything else is finished and the suspicion has been confirmed that once again they were too small for their dreams, then everything goes back to normal pretty quickly. Everybody tells each other that they didn’t mean it, everyone forgives each other and everyone shakes hands. We see pretty pictures from Büttenwarder until, well... the next time there is a chance to make some money. If you ask me where Büttenwarder is located, well, then you can probably imagine where it is. It is... everywhere. Yours Truly, Norbert Eberlein.
