The criminals are here! All of Büttenwarder is upset, especially Farmer Brakelmann and his friend Adsche. Mayor Schönbiehl had the guts to rent out the empty Köpke-farm to an educational establishment for juvenile deliquents. He should lose his job for doing this! To make matters even worse, one of the felons escapes. Armed with a pitch fork, Brakelmann finds the fugitive in his barn. In front of him stands a scared boy who just wants to call his parents. Brakelman gets hush-money. Motivated like that, he takes care of the boy, makes him work on his farm and a wonder happens. The boy flourishes. Without complaining, he accepts all work that Brakelmann gives him. Satisfied, Brakelmann enjoys the unexpected break. Of course, his friend Adsche finds out what is going on and wants such an assistant as well. Mayor Schönbiehl wonders about his „lambs“, who suddenly have so much time on their hands. He doesn’t hear any complaints about the educational establishment any more either. „They are just people like you and me who need a chance“. That’s everybody’s opinion in the local bar „Dorfkrug“. Only Policeman Peter is at his wit’s end. Another one of the juveniles is missing. Mysterious – or not? Schönbiehl finds out that Brakelmann has started a successful business with the brokerage of „Polish Workers“. An ingenious idea. But unfortunately, while organizing his plan, Brakelmann did not consider the intelligence of the juveniles or the Mayor...
